Another bout with brown patch

Treating Sunflower
Treating Sunflower’s brown patch with disinfectant BZK wipes; we have nothing to treat plant fungus with so Gardner is doing the best he can with what he can find.

Sunflower now has a full case of brown patch. The infrared images were spot-on in predicting the spots to be. His leaves are now covered with dry, dark, blotches. He is not happy. Gardener says it is fungus. I am afraid that if something is not done we are going to lose Sunflower. The crew medical kit is designed for animals not plants so there are no medications for this malady onboard. Gardener is treating Sunflower with a disinfectant wipe that has an antibacterial agent called BZK. It is meant for him and the others to disinfect their skin before they stick themselves with needles and suck out blood. I find this ritual rather primitive but he says it comes with the job of flying in space. We do not know if this is going to work but we are giving it a try. In a spacecraft designed for animals life can be a struggle for plants. On the frontier, the answers are not found in the back of the book and sometimes you have to figure things out for yourself.
